Train Your Ears
This tool trains you to identify audio frequencies by ear — a critical skill for any live sound operator. Click New Tone to hear a test tone, then click the button that matches the frequency. Start at Beginner (4 frequencies) and work your way up to Guru (all 31). Use the speaker icons to preview individual frequencies before testing. Turn your volume down before you begin.

Step 1 — Preparation
- Each button corresponds to a specific frequency. Lower frequencies are on the left, higher on the right.
- Click the ▶ speaker icons under each button to preview what that frequency sounds like.
- If you can't hear the lowest or highest tones, adjust the Min/Max Freq dropdowns.
- Once you're familiar with the sounds, you're ready to test yourself.
Step 2 — Testing
- Click New Tone to hear a random test tone.
- Guess the frequency and click the matching button — only highlighted buttons are possibilities.
- Use Replay / Pause to re-hear the tone.
- Keep guessing until you get it right.
- Click New Tone to continue. Progress to higher levels as you improve.
